No Zone Glow Hack (FreeTime) UPDATED 3/5/08

Do you hate the "In the Zone" glow and sound? If you do, than this is the hack for you.

This will stop the glow effect and sound for it. Your sim will still get the motive benefit of being in the zone, but that's the only way you'll know they are. If you already have glowing sims when you install this hack, when the glow wears off, you will not see it again.

Installation: Place package in downloads. This is a global hack.

Recolor/Redistribution Policy: No hacking, No cloning, No recolors, No redistributing without my permission.

UPDATE 3/5/08: Added the following file to kill the glow effects on the Hobby Objects. You will want both this one and the regular No Zone Glow in your game. Just get both.

UPDATE 9/2/08: I updated the Career Ballet Bar and the new AL Superstar Mic. They are in the AL hacks area here:

I had left out the Career Ballet Bar when I first made this hack, so it's safe for you to add it.

No Zone Hobby Objects Hack (FreeTime)

This file will remove the Zone glow and noise from the ballet bar, soundscapes, soccer, basketball, and tinker car.

You can use this file with my No Zone Glow hack, they were made to work together, they won't conflict. The No Zone Glow stops them from getting these effects from all the usual things they do on lots like bug hunting or birdwatching and so on.

Installation: Place package in downloads. This is a global hack.

I love that this hack was made but when I went in the game to test it I had a few issues. I still get the sound and when they are playing the violin and have the right creativity points they change into their formal wear, a spotlight shines on them and the clapping and cheering sounds are still there. I don't know if the latter is part of this hack or not but wanted to let you know that I still get the sound that they are in the Zone. But the annoying glow is gone, which is awesome.

The violin code is totally separate and is supposed to do the spotlight, clothing change and all that. You would need a separate hack for the violin if you don't want that stuff. I just looked at the code for it.

OMG, that Zone crap is in like every new object. The stupid applause and spotlight. What the hell were they thinking putting that in there? All I can say is, as I get to it, I'll have to do it as a separate hack or a series of separate hacks and get it out of those objects as I go. Awful, it's just not playable with that junk. :x

Yeah the spotlight seems pretty silly to me along with the applause and cheers when you're home alone, but would be a good thing when you're performing on stage or something I guess. I don't know what maxis is thinking when they put stuff like that in the game. I guess some people may like it but I like to keep my game as real as possible.

That's exactly it, it destroys the realism. Besides being kind of dumb. I think the whole zone thing was stupid. The rest of the game is good, I like the new contests and objects, but they ruined it with the zone. As I get time, which is rare right now, I will rip that out of the objects. I wouldn't be surprised if alot of modders are working on it. We all made a no zone hack. Shows how much it's hated :axe1)

LOL, I noticed a few NO Zone hacks around. I will keep watching for your other one or ones. In the meantime I'm happy that they're not "Radioactive" while in the zone. :lol: I swear a friend of mine asked the other day, before I got this hack, "Was your sim exposed to radiation?" then he gave me a weird look when I said "No, it was done on purpose by the game makers." Obviously he's not a sim player. :shock: Freetime I think, in my personal opinion, is one of the best EP's so far. I love all the new things we can do, make, craft and such. Anyhoo, I will stop babbling now, lol. Again thank you for all the hard work you do to make the game much more enjoyable.

Thank you very much for this, I wanted to make a ballet by using move objects and moving the dancers away from the barre, but the glow ruined everything. The zone effects are bizarre. Thanks again.
