Slow Motive Decay TS3 *Updated 6/22/09*
by Carrigon

I've tweaked the motive decay.  Needs go down much slower now.  It should take about twelve sim hours or longer for your sim to be in the red if you are starting from all green.

Installation:  If you have already downloaded my Homework hack, just unrar this file and place it in Packages.  If you have not downloaded my Homework hack, you will need to do so as it contains the file folders and full installation instructions.  TS3 hacks are installed differently than TS2.

Update 6/22/09:  Adjustment to the hygiene bar, however, hygiene is affected by the Lifetime Happiness reward of Dirt Defiant.  If your sim does not have the Dirt Defiant award, hygiene will go down faster.  I did fix it so it barely goes down at all.  However, many factors go into why motives go down and I cannot compensate for each individual sim.  If you start a sim with all motive bars set at full green and the sim has no Lifetime Rewards, it should take about twelve sim hours for them to really start to need to eat or use the bathroom, but it does depend on what you are doing in the game and the individual sim.

No redistributing, No rehacking without my permission.

I have decided not to update this hack for WA because Richdre has a WA version that works very well.  You can get the WA version over at CrazyTown here:

Hi Carrigon,

Another useful hack....many thanks

Are you or any of the other modders looking into how to display the age of a sim?  The reason I ask is because I married this attractive looking woman   and the next day she reached her old age period    I was not at all happy as I had only just turned adult.  It seems silly that we have no idea how soon until the next age increase will occur in situations as above.

Any help or insight into this would be most appreciated.

Thanks

There's an age bar in your sim's panel that tells you how many days they have.  Mouse over it.

I'll look at it, but I didn't have that problem with the sim I tested at all.  Hygiene and all the other motives are based on what you are doing.  If you are doing something like working out, it will drop faster.

Updated, however, if your sim doesn't have the LifetimeHappiness rewards that affect motives, like Dirt Defiant or Steel Bladder, you will notice that those motives go down faster.  The sim I tested this on already had Dirt Defiant, but he didn't have the Steel Bladder reward.  So I was able to see the difference.  So if you really want the motives to be much slower, use this hack and get them the rewards.

Read the sticky I put up about how the codes work, it explains everything.

Can you tweak just hygiene motive only?
I'd like sims to get stinky once per 2 days or even 3 days.

the other motives are OK to me
I just do not see a solid sense to shower/bath every single day

Are you still having problems after this update?

Updated.  I did fix the hygiene.  However, alot of factors go into why some sims go down faster than others and I cannot compensate for each individual sim.

I think he wants to be able to tell the age of Sims not in your household, i.e. while dating or before marriage.  It has happened to me where, as a young adult, I fell in love with someone and the next day he was an elder!

There are ways around that.  You can use Klanly's Mod
http://www.simlogical.com/Sims3ToolsForum/index.php?topic=125.0

What I do is I use Klanly's Mod in my game, they type in Select in the cheat window and the name of the sim I want to check stats on.  It will switch you to control that sim.  Look at that sim's panel.  If you are not happy with the days left, use my lifefruit hack in your game and have them eat a lifefruit.   Switch back to the sim were originally playing using the same Select command and typing in their name.

Alternately, with Klanly's Mod, you can set sim ages.

Thanks for the sticky re TS3 hacks & how the code works. Basically I understand more of why the hacks we are seeing are different.
Does this mean that we can't have a hack that will max all motives as in TS2?  I'm just asking if you wil be patient with me once again.

I am not a fan of Story Progression, I like to play my own sims how I want and ignore the townies as much as possible. I am looking for hacks that will help me do that. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Krystyl

So far, none of us have really made individual motive hacks.  You can us testingcheats and just drag the motive bar up for that.

As far as the whole story progression goes, I don't use it either.  My best advice is to really use a core mod like Gabriel or Awesome.  And the reason behind this is because the cheats are already turned on for you.  And right now, Awesome is configurable.  You can turn off alot of what you don't want in it.

I really don't know how many individual hacked objects you will see for this game.  I've looked into doing it, but honestly, at this point, I didn't even see anything I wanted to make.  I think you might see stuff for the first EP.  We'll have alot more things sims can do then.

There is a hacked super computer at MATY you might want to try, too.

Thanks Carrigon, very helpful as always. I will explore MATY further, and patiently wait to see what the future brings.
One question - Where do I find 'Gabriel'?
Thanks
